The Drama department is part of the Culture and Creativity Directorate at New Heys. We offer Drama provision in Key Stage Three for our students. In Year 7, the students receive a term of Drama as part of their Culture and Creativity lessons. This is a pilot scheme for one year only. Students in Year 8 and Year 9 attend one Drama lesson a week. During those lessons they work on improvisations based on relevant issues.
GCSE Drama is a popular option in Key Stage Four. Students have the opportunity to develop their improvisation and scripted skills as well as attending at least three theatre visits.

The Drama department lead the school production project annually. This has been an incredibly successful venture and 2007 will see us performing at Unity Theatre in Liverpool’s city centre for the sixth year. This project gives our students the wonderful opportunity of performing at a professional theatre.
The Drama department is pleased to inform you that the Drama Studio has recently been refurbished and is now an appropriate and specialised space for our students to work in.
