Extended Services

An Extended School is a school that recognises that it cannot work alone in helping children and young people to achieve their potential, and therefore decides to work in partnership with other agencies that have an interest in outcomes for children and young people, and with the local community. In doing so, it aims to help meet not only the schools objectives but also to share in helping to meet the wider needs of children, young people, their families and the community.

New Heys Extended School offers many out of hours programmes to our students, their families and the wider community. We have a very successful Breakfast Club were students and staff can obtain a healthy breakfast to start the day.

We offer a varied menu of out of hours activities such as Duke of Edinburgh, PAYP and after schools clubs both on our premises and those of local organisations.

We also offer activities for our students and young people within our local community during school holidays. Our recent Summer Programme enabled us to offer affordable Child Care for our parent/carers and families within our wider community. The programme was very well attended and the young people had an excellent time, learning new skills and making new friends.

Early in the new year, Extended Services in partnership with Sure Start, The Catholic Youth Service, Speke Youth & Community Centre, Liverpool Adult Education Service and Parklands High School will be hosting two family consultation events.

The event will be focused around the RESPECT agenda and will compliment Respect Week planned for December 2007. We plan to hold three workshops for our young people, their families and the wider community, which will include:

We will also have a market place available to provide information to benefit individuals and the wider community.

The findings of the conference will assist to influence decisions made at both local and citywide level, in relation to service provision.

Please contact Linda Farrelly or Laura Hunt if you would like to have your say!
