Careers Education at New Heys is delivered in a series of exciting and innovative ways to develop employability skills and to help prepare students for the world of work.
These include:
• Sessions delivered as part of the school’s overall P.S.H.E programme
• Through Departments where staff develop an awareness of career opportunities
• Through the school’s pastoral system where students can seek careers advice from form teachers
• Through strong links with Connexions who provide careers advice and guidance to students.
• Through a ten-day work experience placement during Year 10 plus a mock interview with a local employer organsied by Liverpool Compact. Each Year 10 and 11 student is required to achieve goals relating to planning, target setting, reliability, key skills and preparation for the world of work.
• A number of projects delivered in partnership with the Speke Garston Education Action Zone, Parklands City Learning Centre and Merseyside Creative Partnerships.
• A range of activities delivered for each Year group through the House Business System, including ‘Me PLC’ for Year 7 students and the Young Managers Programme for Year 9 students.
